Tuesday’s discussions in Jeddah will take place at a time when President Donald Trump has upended the US’s wartime policies, engaging directly with Russia while cutting off military aid and intelligence sharing for Ukraine.
Zelenskyy, who had a furious exchange with Trump and his Vice President JD Vance at the White House late last month, is due to meet Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Monday.
A team including his chief of staff and top ministers will take part in the talks with a US delegation led by Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
On the ground, Russian forces are stepping up pressure on Ukrainian forces holding parts of Russia’s Kursk region while also trying to gain a foothold in Ukraine’s Sumy region.
