Nine Iranian Naval Ships Have Been Destroyed And Sunk, Trump Says

U.S. President Donald Trump announced on X that nine Iranian naval ships have been destroyed and sunk during combat operations against Iran, and that Iran’s naval headquarters was “largely destroyed.” He warned more vessels would be targeted.

U.S. Central Command said the strikes, part of Operation Epic Fury, began early Saturday and included an attack on an Iranian Jamaran-class corvette now sinking at a Chah Bahar pier. CENTCOM said the operation aimed to degrade the Iranian regime’s security apparatus by striking IRGC command-and-control facilities, air defenses, missile and drone launch sites, and military airfields.

CENTCOM confirmed three U.S. service members were killed and five were seriously wounded during the operations. It also said B-2 stealth bombers struck hardened Iranian ballistic missile sites with 2,000-lb bombs Saturday night.

The U.S. military refuted an IRGC claim that the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln was hit, saying the missiles “didn’t even come close” and that the Lincoln continues flight operations. The Lincoln carrier strike group and the Gerald R. Ford strike group are both deployed to the region as part of the largest U.S. buildup in the Middle East in a generation.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s compound was targeted; a senior Israeli official told Reuters Khamenei was killed, and Trump posted on Truth Social confirming Khamenei’s death. Iran’s Red Crescent reported at least 201 people killed and more than 700 injured nationwide.
